I have read this author before but this is the first official review. Therefore a single-mom and older brothers best friend kind of romance is always intriguing to me, so here we are!
The beginning will gut you, the feelings, the words, the meaning behind them…that was deep!! I hurt for Saylor, but when she couldn’t lie to herself anymore, she makes a deciscion without looking back. Literally.
From The Book:
The only serenity I had existed in the ten seconds between the foggy haze of sleep and awareness. -Saylor
When she finally sees Jace again, memories on the first kiss mishap came flooding right back. But that way many moons ago, and besides they are adults now. She was mourning her husband, not trying to think about Jace. Right? Little did she know, both souls share an unfortunate fate. *got tissue* I really meant when I said this is highly emotional, I was not prepared for it at all. Realistic in a sense of feelings and actions.
This is a slow burn, beautiful in a sense that two souls are drawn to one another but have so much dark and baggage that maneuvering around is work on it’s own. I enjoyed the characters, I especially loved the hero Jace. I was okay with the heroine Saylor but her indecisiveness was a little too far off for me, and yes I know what kind of book this is, I am just saying that I had a little harder time connecting with her on a level. That said, this book will bring out all the emotions, so watch out! The ending was SO BEAUTIFUL GUYS, *sigh*
