NEW-ish author to me. I have read one other book by this author and wasn’t too much of a fan as in just wasn’t my style but I also don’t judge author’s by one book. So, I really liked the cover in this, I enjoy dark romance and mafia romance especially so I wanted to give the author another shot. Unfortunately this was not for me, it’s more the author’s style and some to do with the tone of the story.
To me mafia romance need to be really researched and done right. That’s just my personal preferences, otherwise it becomes a little either ridiculous or too much for me. This was not up my alley when it comes to the style of mafia romance, it’s not particularly a bad thing, I am sure a lot of people do enjoy this style….I don’t even know how to explain it, basically it, to me sounds like the story is just told, there wasn’t any particular thing keeping me there, like someone was just telling me a story. Another problem I had with this and with mafia romances (which most are and I get it I do) but I like the more dedicated mafia hero’s or rather antihero in these, if you’re not sleeping with the heroine I don’t want to see you sleep with other useless woman characters, it’s a huge turn off. That’s all I am going to say on that because I could go on for days on how much that a turn off is. So I do appreciate getting another chance to try the author and wish the author the best.
