Not my first read by the author and I have read all the previous books in the series, and wow this one again blew me away. I didn’t know what to expect out of this couple but it sure was a adventure in both heartbreak pain and love.
My thoughts:
This was most definitely not what I expected, knowing which couple was coming, I wasn’t sure which way it would go because of the heroine. She is young, alone on an island, a caretaker of the island and secluded in every way. The hero is a artist that comes with baggage and buying an island he wasn’t expecting the caretaker to be so young and beautiful. They really, it was a gradual love between them. It’s most definitely a SLOW BURN but a sweet one. I like to say that because the anticipation and build up is amazing, this has so many layers to it that it will make you question if you assumptions of what’s coming next is correct. Heartbreaking, so painful, raw, sweet, passionate…basically I would like to buy an island now!
Little about the book:
The heroine is a young caretaker on an island, she has been secluded and with good reason, she liked her sanctuary and alone-ness…that’s until the current island owners decide to sell and when she see’s the new owner, she is drawn to him in a sharing the same kind of pain way. The hero is a early 30s artist that really is not running away but needing to be away from his current predicament. He has few friends but real friends, well except Lara (we hate Lara ) who is his manager for a decade now. When he moves to the island and decides to build a studio room, Shay the heroine is shook because her sanctuary is about to be invited. Things progress pretty fast from there, Shay gradually opens up to Brody but only because he is a little demanding but with good intentions and heart. It’s really sweet them together, you’ll fall in love with them right away. This has suspense, deep down to soul pain, heartbreak, loss, romance, sweet kisses, chickens and a kitchen counter that you will look at differently *smirk*
