R E V I E W ➠ Royal by Rebel Shaw

Falling for the nanny isn’t my style…but neither was becoming a single dad overnight.
When my three-year-old niece, Hadley, needs a guardian, I fill the role and need a nanny. Stat. What I get instead is London Ashford—an infuriating redhead who tempts me at every turn.
The harder I push, the more she pushes back. I’m someone used to calling the shots, and her insubordination should irritate me; instead, it turns me on.
My nightclub isn’t going to run itself, so I have to harness my desire for her and let her do her job—so I can do mine.
Finnegan Royal is charming, gorgeous, and an insufferable asshole. Not exactly my type…not that it matters. He’s my new boss.
But watching a powerful businessman like Finn be brought to his knees by his toddler niece makes me feel all kinds of things I shouldn’t.
Named one of Chicago’s most eligible bachelors, he owns the hottest club in town and can have any woman he wants, but he has his sights set on me. The nanny.
The beautiful little girl has stolen my heart, but I have no doubt her arrogant uncle would break it if given the chance. So why can’t I stay away?

RELEASE DATE: May 10, 2022

Not my first read by the dup ladies (KAYLEE RYAN & LACEY BLACK) and so I was very excited for this. Little nervous because anything join and new makes me nervous, and I have been on the 50/50 of liking the hero in this. Maybe because I was expecting one thing but the hero IS MEAN and VULGAR! At times I would find it sexy but then the times the ‘other women’ come to play, I was not a fan of the descriptiveness and I guess I wanted him to be more about the heroine but he definitely was fighting it. p.s. HERO IS A HUGE PLAYBOY (in case someone has that trigger) super freaking SEXY but definitely a grumpy playboy.

I really really really wanted to love this to the TOP 2022 read, but just something I couldn’t put my finger on that I was not happy with. The enemy-to in this is hard, the chemistry big and we even get some sweetness moments. I just wasn’t sold on the H&H fully. I was also a little disappointed that there was no groveling, for the size of fuck up the hero did I was expecting it and needed it even. That said these are as always my thoughts when reading a book. I love both the author’s who wrote this and will say that I can definitely tell which author wrote which chapter/scene. I am looking forward to more but if the best friend Weston gets a books, I am staying away because if you think this hero was a playboy, wait till you meet him. Plus he slept and doesn’t mind sleeping with married woman, no thank you (that’s a no no in my book of hero’s).

About the book:
This enemy-to, Nanny Romance is full on Angst, heartache and a little girl you will fall in love with. When tragedy strikes what’s a billionaire to do when left with a tiny little 3 year old? Hire a nanny of course. Our heroine is between jobs and of course after having a rough past, she never really went to school or anything so it’s been jobs here and there. When she gets this opportunity she jumps on it (no pun intended 😉 These two do not fit together, the heroine likes to push the hero and the hero is set on one way of his life. He owns a club and works hard, that’s all he knows. His own past is a tragic one so what happens in his life now, really truly hurts. He is set to his ways and the heroine has a big enough heart for the two of them. When lines blur and they strike a agreement, a steamy one…neither really know what to expect. UNTIL it hits them, but the problem now is there is a little girl in the play and she deserves all the happiness in her life. They both have to make choices for their future as well as one another.

This book is emotional, raw, sexy with a grumpy hero, sweet heroine and an even sweeter little 3 year old who will steal your heart.
