R E V I E W ➠ Can’t Help Love by Claudia Burgoa

(Paradise Bay Billionaire Brothers #2)

BLURB

They’ll get their second chance at love… if they don’t kill each other first!
If I ever cross paths with Gatsby Spearman I might just push him from the tallest building in San Francisco.
Saying that I don’t like him is an understatement—I hate him.
The prick ghosted me in college, stole the program we created to start a billion-dollar company—oh and I failed a class because of him.
I want revenge. And I want it to be petty.
I created an infallible five-step plan to make him pay for what he did to me.
1. Destroy his company.
2. Hire him out of pity.
3. Make him fall in love with me.
4. Rip out his heart.
5. Ghost him while he’s crying from a broken heart.
Simple, right?
Except, I didn’t take into consideration the old college chemistry rearing its ugly head and bringing us closer together despite everything we do to fight it.
I want vengeance, all he wants is to flirt.
Though, I don’t plan on falling for his antics.
I’ll play this to win.
Let the games begin.

Can’t Help Love is a sexy, fun, at time angsty enemies-to-lovers billionaire romance that’s the perfect combination of seduction and sassy with a couple who live to torture each other!

RELEASE DATE: May 10, 2022

NEW to me author, because I’ve only read one book by her. I chose this one because the blurb is what caught me in, I wasn’t too crazy about the cover, the model doesn’t really appeal to me but the blurb just got me. Unfortunately right off the bat I did not like it, the whole scene when they are young and her being on a video call with her strict parents and the hero under the table doing naughty things, a lot of you will say OMG that’s so hot but honestly it felt tacky to me and just wasn’t sexy, that’s how it came off to me. That whole beginning felt rushed to me. Then we jump into many years later and the heroine hates the hero, which is understandable from what he did. But everything just felt forced and not word grabbing for me. I didn’t like the heroine, the hero was right behind her and although I did like the tech mogul idea on both, just was kind of boring to me. The bantering and confrontations between hero & heroine up until 50% just did nothing for me. This is where I am stopping because I feel like to be able to give it a full try I need to step away and hopefully finish before the ARC is due.

I have decided to not continue reading because the first part that truly made me not want to read wasn’t memorable enough for me to go back to re-skim and continue reading. I do love the author she is an amazing person but this style and book is just not for me. Simple as that!
