Not my first read by the author and I love me some Corinne and her angst romances! I have also read the previous books in this series as well as know her writing style.
This one BROKE my heart, for the both of H&H. Also was the most angsty one that I’ve read lately and IT DROVE ME CRAZY! I almost didn’t make it and turned to the end of the book to make sure I was safe haha! It was a wild ride that I took being a emotional reader. That said this truly was beautiful and broken and everything. Talk about getting to 60% and on ANXIETYYYY in the best way possible, this is where I wanted to read either faster or go the to end to make sure I didn’t just bawl my eyes out for real.
Hero and heroine have a history, as in they were together in the military and got married for the paperwork reason. They became best friends, and this worked for them, until the hero gets shot and well the heroine realized even before that that she can’t lose him. After losing her brother, she just can’t bare it anymore. She is alone and scared and not sure how to approach her feelings besides she still had a job to be. She loved being a Army Medic it’s what brought her life, but what she will always regret is leaving. When she comes back to try to save her dear husband, he doesn’t want anything to do with her. This is where the enemy-to gets heavy and I was little nervous at some points that this story was about to take a turn. Both H&H really just loved each other but horrible at communication, or rather denial. Even when they were bickering you can tell the love between them. The heroine is stubborn, and the hero is proud. But when it all hits the fan, truly the heroine realizes that she would rather have him then not have him every again. It’s a fight for the both of them, a sweet one because I really felt all of the feelings and BTW the SUSPENSE in this, high!
