Not my first read by the author and I love her and have read almost every single book by her. That said I always say this but I have been so excited for this book I just knew it was going to be special. And that it was!
This is Sully’s book, the girl who was taken when she was a little kid and kept at a cult but bravely escaped after a few tries. When she get’s picked up by a lovely couple at the truck stop, she has no idea that her life is about to chance in to many ways. Cowboy I can say is one of my very top favorite hero’s. Not only does he have a big heart but his protective streak is sexy and loving at the same time. He just knew years ago that the photo he once saw would be life changing, and that it was. When Sully first came to his family’s farm she was skittish and afraid of her own shadow. For the right reasons that is of course with what she has gone through and just went through escaping. But Cowboy did not let down, he stayed on her porch to make sure she feels safe and made himself available to her for everything. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT IS THE MAGIC PART for me, their connection is something I will never be able to get over. This book was more emotion than action and I was there for it every single page. I loved their interaction, how they both seemed to help one another even though you’d think Sully is the one that needs most of the help, Callihan is in equal need to help when it comes to his head and heart. Sully feels safe with Callahan and that is the biggest thing for her, but their relationship due to the chemistry and connection blossoms fast (this is the part where the author does advise her readers that in real life the time line would have been longer yes but she is a strong believer in connection between two people) as am i, so i was okay with the time frame of them two. You get such tenderness in this book mixed with, how do I put this….kind of like the hardness of the hero body mixed with the softness of the heroine’s. If that makes sense to anyone you are my kind of people 🙂 otherwise, basically it has a good amount of romance, story, action and spice in it.
If you want a protective cowboy who rides motorcycles, wrangles horses but also teaches them tender touches all while giving you the hard and soft of him, YOU NEED Callahan “Cowboy” in your life. You will equally fall in love with Sully as well, as she overcomes a big bump in the road of her life only to be rewarded with Redemption Ranch where she doesn’t only get saved but finds herself.
