R E V I E W ➠ Playing To Win by Stacey Lynn

It was a three-week fling. Nothing more than a couple of college kids having some fun, but then I did the stupid thing and fell for Jude Taylor quicker than he can score a goal on the ice. And after one beautiful night together, he left for the pros before I could make my first cup of coffee.
I thought I’d put him behind me. I thought I’d moved on. Then he hobbles into my physical therapy office and I realize how absolutely wrong I’ve been—there’s no getting over Jude Taylor.
But now things are complicated. Jude lives half a country away and his career is in direct opposition to my need for stability. Most of all, getting involved with him could mean losing my job and everything I’ve worked so hard for.
Jude doesn’t seem to mind one bit and he’s all in. He might be a patient in my office, but he’s no longer the patient guy I remember.
This time, he’s playing to win, and the prize he’s looking to score is me.

She wiggles her fingers in a gimme gimme gesture. “Give me all the meat.” As soon as she says it her cheeks match her hot pink scarf and matching hat. I open my mouth, but she waves her hand. “Don’…don’t say it. I walked right into that. Made it easy.” “Sweetie, you can walk right into my meat any day. I’m always that easy.”

New to me author & books! I originally wanted to sign up for this but got busy and forgot then I heard so much good about it, I knew I had to give it a try to get an ARC either way I was going to read this beauty because that’s what it is, I fell in love with it from the first pages. Something about it captivated me and held that through the whole book.

This is a sweet sports romance. We have the heroine Katie who is a sweetheart, sassy, beautiful and smart. And the hero Jude who is the bad-ass professional hockey player and a big one at that, handsome, rugged and has a huge heart. I loved them both together. These two met 5 years ago and spend a little time together before they were separated by time…forward to when Katie runs into Jude almost literary, their spark has never died. But Katie doesn’t know if she can trust him again only to break her heart. This is a story of two people who met and are meant to be but time is a tricky thing but fate is an even trickier…so which way will they go again?

R E V I E W ➠ The Perfect Pitch by Samantha Lind

The sound of the gavel crashing down,
Has my life flashing before my eyes.
Learning to play ball.
Falling in love,
Marrying an incredible woman and starting a family
Becoming a starting pitcher for the Indianapolis Lightning.
Everything I ever wanted… Until I struck out.

Took it all away.

Even throw the perfect pitch.

It binds you to someone, or it can tear them away.
It broke my heart to file the papers.
Gutted me to sign them.
But this isn’t the life I envisioned.
Tired of competing to be his number one priority,
I had to walk away from the man I loved.
I needed to be strong for our girls, for me.
Life goes on.
People can change.
Now he wants a second chance.
But can I forgive the man who threw it all away, and trust that he won’t do it again?

NEW to me author & books! I honestly received the Givemebooks emails about the cover reveal of this beauty and read the blurb and had to read it, it really caught my eye! Also the cover might have helped a little too!

So going into this I knew from the blurb that this will be starting off with the hero and heroine getting a divorce due to reasons. It started off good for me, until closer to the 50%, this is a VERY family based book and as much as I love those very much, to me it felt a little too much. The events that occur up until 50% are all just the family based…after-all this is a sports-romance so I was also expecting some interaction, which you do get around 60%. I guess it just went a little slow for me, there were times I thought something was going to happen but luckily they didn’t do that way. It’s about two people who know one another and are learning everything about each other all over again. It’s really BEAUTIFUL, the dedication, the sweetness of it all.

R E V I E W ➠ Breathless by Lexi Martin

The boy next door has always made her breathless.

Joey… I wouldn’t say I ran away exactly—twenty-two is too old for that. I’d call it self-preservation.
I have one objective: protect my heart from the boy next door who has no clue I’ve loved him my whole life, even with a front row seat to his revolving bedroom door.
My escape plan almost worked. Except I left one thing behind.
Logan Carter hijacked my heart, and now it’s time to get it back. This time for good.
Logan…I wouldn’t say I’ve been lying this whole time—not about everything. Not about how much I miss my best friend, and definitely not about how pissed I am that she left with hardly a goodbye.
She’s the last person I ever expected to ghost me, and her absence left a gaping hole in my chest.
When Joey Grayson steps off that bus, I know I’ll do anything to keep her home, and that means finding out the truth. But I’m not sure how to tell her my truths when I’m living so many lies.

“Your pretty little smile won’t work on me, Logan Carter.”

Not my first read by the author but my first official REVIEW of her books. I signed up for this one because the blurb caught my eye and the cover was gorgeous. I had a feeling this would be very angsty but I agve it a try anyways.

This is a friends-to meaning the hero Logan and heroine Joey are best friends since forever and the Joey has always been in the ‘friends-zone’. After finally realizing that she may not be anything more to him, she does a drastic change and moves away. Now she is back for the hero’s brother’s wedding and she isn’t sure how to act around Logan anymore.

Logan is a complex hero. He has been friends with Joey since he can remember and always did his hardest to stay away, be the good guy…not go there. He didn’t know that in that process he would hurt her, more than he can imagine. With everything that has happened in his life and the secrets not only this town holds….but himself too, it’s hard to know which way to go. When he blurs the lines and realizes that there might be something…well that’s when secrets like to come out of the dark.

This is quiet a read, and I must say that the angst was high, the heroine was a in between line of being too young for my reading likes and enough mature to be okay. The more I read the more I liked and was glued to the book. Lot’s happening to keep you engaged and I really enjoyed it to the end. I also have not read the other 2 books in the series, of course I will have to just to know their story too, and will be reading more for sure.

R E V I E W ➠ Send Me Crazy by T. Gephart

A note, a pair of panties and a date.
When Quinn’s efforts to set up her best friend go awry, she finds herself with a crazy blind date. Could the mystery man be her soul mate? Nothing like an adventure, and at the very least, she was going to have some fun with it.

RELEASE DATE: February 7, 2020

NEW to me author & books! I was also lucky to have received a cute little package from the author that contained the gorgeous paperback and more.

I was going in blind with new authors and I really really enjoyed the main characters, very much! They were mature which are my type! This was all the types of cute meets rom-com and friends-to…very very sweet. The hero and heroine get together after a wrong package was send with some rather intimate items, which was half the fun of the story. The other half is the main characters being together, and without giving away too much….I will say that there are a lot of twist and turns and surprises, it kept me engaged the whole time. Would definitely read more by the author.

R E V I E W ➠ Mister Bad Boy Firefighter by Pnelope Wylde

You know the game, Never Have I Ever? Well, I did—every inch of him and then I left.

I had my reasons, but now I’m back in Big Dix—or Dixen, Alaska—and so is the hotshot firefighter turned fire chief I left at the altar.
It’s been six years and Aspen Kennedy still has it all: He’s hot as sin, hard in all the right places, induces Oh, god, yes moments and has brains too. Simple math, right? So you would think. But my younger self ran when the time came to say, ‘I do.’ Biggest mistake of my life, but I moved on in order to save my heart.
I’ll keep my distance, and since I have no interest in rekindling any romance with my high-school flame while I’m in town, that should be easy. My goal is to help my gran renovate her B&B before Christmas and then I’ll be back in the Big Apple, far away from Aspen.
But the man doesn’t play fair and his memory of my body has me rethinking life on a grander scale, screaming his three favorite words and forgetting about my tight schedule and all the bullet points on my to-do lists. I suppose a few stolen moments of pleasure can be our little secret, right? Trouble is, the more he touches me and the more we’re together, the more I wonder what it would be like to wake up to a Big Dix man for the rest of my days… After the Christmas lights come down, will there be any magic left between us?

Author’s Naughty Note: Mister Bad Boy Firefighter is a tantalizing second chance romance filled with ex-sex, a naughty, bad boy firefighter with plans for filthy sleigh-ride sex, and a wayward cookie-eating reindeer. As always with a Penelope Wylde book, you’ll get the filthy, naughty bits you crave with the perfect happily ever after you love. Can be read as a complete standalone.

RELEASE DATE: January 15, 2020

“Wow, aren’t you the bad boy firefighter!”
“Come up stairs with me and find out!”

NEW TO ME author & books. This wonderful soul has been supporting me for a very long time and I am finally able to get down to business and read one of her books! From the blurb and author note I knew I had to read this. This is a little but of a twist with the main characters, meaning that they are almost reversed in the feeling department, also has to do with the plot of the story.

We have the heroine Ivy Sunday who when she was younger not only broke this boy’s heart but hers along with it But what can you do, they were both so young and feelings were running high…except Ivy ran with hers, literally. After years of being gone from town she is forced to come back and help her family member out renovating and up keeping a place. When she runs into THAT BOY who now is a very much man, a big strong, fireman to be exact. Aspen Kennedy! He is a man who after having his true and only love run away shifted gears in life, and in the end ended up being the local new fireman chief. Along with Aspen still being in love with Ivy, she has to figure out what she wants. They circle around and I gotta say that the sexy scenes were WOW hot, graphic and verbal!

I will be looking forward to Book #2 in this because well, I really enjoyed the writing and story. The characters, they were equally great and that said, definitely will be reading more.

R E V I E W ➠ Bourbon Love Notes by Shari J. Ryan

In a split second, life can steal a last breath … and derail all future plans.
While flying home after a phone call that left me heartbroken, a row to myself would have been ideal. Instead, I was unknowingly sitting shoulder to shoulder with Brett Pearson; a strikingly attractive single dad and ex-Marine. I could have pretended not to notice the man, but there was something familiar about him.
It didn’t take long before I pieced together where I knew him from or why he was back in my life.
With chaos holding me hostage, I wanted to hide but couldn’t avoid Brett, our old family friend, and my teenage crush, because he kindly offered to help out with my family’s business—The Barrel House.
Handling my father’s distillery would be a distraction from my brutal reality. Except, I never paid close attention to the art of making bourbon, unlike Brett, who was full of bourbon knowledge. He offered to teach me a thing or two, but all I could focus on was the way his lips moved when he spoke to me.
I needed to grieve, and my head was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but my heart was splitting at the seams.
Bourbon was spilled, drinks were shared, but could passion ignite from a dying last wish?

RELEASE DATE: January 13, 2020

“She must have been some girl,”
I tell him, trying to breath after the statement.
Brett’s lips curl into a small smile. “You sure are,” he says.

This is a NEW to me author and books! What attracted me to this book was the Blurb and then of course the cover, it’s a sweet but sexy one if you know what I mean so I thought I’d love to give it a try. It was definitely right up my alley, and the beginning was promising for me but unfortunately it slowed down until about 50-ish % meaning, the story felt more the cause to me than anything else. The slow burn, was a REALLY SLOW BURN and I mean some like that and that’s fine but for me, I need a little bit more. Aside from that:

The story is based on the heroine who moved away form her childhood home, and is with a man who she was sure would be the one. When an incident happens back home, and she decides on a whim to leave. When she comes back home she runs into a handsome man who looks very familiar. After she arrives home and finds out what is going on, things only go down for her. The hero is a handsome, sexy, sweet oh so sweet single dad. He is in a sense alpha but mostly very sweet and kind. His daughter is the sweetest and this story really all together is SWEET. Watch out for the tear jerker too. It hinted for the heroine’s sister and hero’s brother, but I am not sure, this is my first read by the author.
